Probiotics may be an ingredient to a healthy child.

Progurt Team - Wednesday, October 30, 2013

The Secret to a Healthy Child, according to an article published in October 2013 by Dr E. Adarshm, Professor and Head of Paediatrics at Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore, is “good” probiotic bacteria in the stomach.

Australian author and health care professional in the area of women’s reproductive health, Jan Roberts, advocates Progurt as the probiotic of choice for Mothers and Newborns.  See here: More...

Magnease. The Added Health Benefits of Essential Minerals.

Progurt Team - Monday, October 14, 2013

Magnesium chloride’s use as a magnesium supplement has the benefit of helping to reduce many potential problems that could arise from steadily declining secretions of gastric acid in the stomach.

These can include:

Mal-absorption of vitamins and minerals. A failure in proper digestion. An increased susceptibility to unwanted bacteria, viruses, and yeasts passing through the gut.

These advantages come from the extra chloride found in magnesium chloride, enough to increase production of gastric acid, thereby enhancing absorption and assimilation of magnesium itself, and improving overall digestive efficiency — creating an ideal environment for the assimilation of critical micronutrients important to health, especially as we age.  More...

Swedish and American Study list 5 Health Benefits of Probiotics

Progurt Team - Friday, October 04, 2013

1. Builds a Better Immune System. Your immune system reaps the rewards of probiotic power. A recent Swedish study of 262 workers found that only 10% of those who took probiotics for 80 days had a sick day for an upper respiratory infection or gastrointestinal upset, compared with 26.4% of those who didn’t. Plus, regular doses can help everything from reducing vaginal and urinary tract infections to settling an overactive immune system if you’re prone to allergies or eczema. How? In short, by producing their own natural antibiotics. Probiotics may even enhance mood by communicating with your central nervous system. Clever little things, no?

2. Boosts the absorption of minerals. Probiotics produce vitamins—think B6, B12 and K2—and boost the absorption of minerals like iron, calcium and magnesium. Equally important, they fend off harmful bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli, which can cause diarrhoea and, in extreme cases, severe anaemia or kidney failure.

3. Stimulates gut motility. You’ve probably read the reasons why we should exercise a million times over—it does everything from reducing blood pressure to building bones and boosting mood. But did you know there’s a good gut-bacteria pay-off for slipping on your gym shoes, too? Exercise stimulates gut motility, which benefits good bacteria by removing toxins that may damage them. Bowel movements are also a general indicator of how healthy these colonies are. “If you’re getting adequate fibre and are physically active, you should have more frequent movements that are larger, softer and lighter in colour,” says nutrition expert Dr Roger Clemens, PhD. And here’s a surprising (albeit gag-inducing) fact: Half the volume of each bowel movement is not food waste, but bacteria. Yes, you have several grams of these microbes in your gut at any given time.  More...
