You are not broken and do not require fixing!

Progurt Team - Wednesday, March 27, 2013

An outrageous statement you say? Hardly, if you were broken you would not be with us!

The human body is not a degenerating entity at the mercy of time, but is in fact dynamic and self-¬healing given the correct care and support.

Disease can only manifest when the appropriate conditions are present to do so and the bodies’ resources are overwhelmed. For example, when the perfect storm of genetic inheritance, a toxic environmental burden plus poor dietary and lifestyle habits combine to block normal biochemical function, we have the conditions appropriate for some level of catastrophe.  More...

New Probiotics and altered gut microbiota can protect against Stroke.

Progurt Team - Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology and Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, say that new probiotics, once established in the gut, can protect individuals against stroke. They compared a group of stroke patients with a group of healthy subjects and found major differences in their gut microbiota. In particular, they showed that genes required for the production of carotenoids were more frequently found in gut microbiota from healthy subjects.

"Our results indicate that long-term exposure to carotenoids, through production by the bacteria in the digestive system, has important health benefits. We think that the bacterial species in the probiotics would establish themselves as a permanent culture in the gut and have a long-term effect." (Professor Jens Nielsen of Chalmers). “These results should make it possible to develop new probiotics.”

These new Probiotics have arrived. Progurt is a probiotic like no other. It is the only probiotic that can verify through authorized microbial testing its viable bacterial count of 1 trillion plus CFU.  More...

Probiotic Strains

Progurt Team - Friday, March 15, 2013

There are more than 100 trillion bacteria or gut flora in the average person's gastrointestinal tract, a number ten times greater than the number of human cells; comprising, it is estimated, up to 1,000 different species. The metabolic activities performed by these bacteria resemble those of an organ, leading some microbiologists to liken gut bacteria to a “forgotten organ”.

Research shows that these gut microbiota perform a host of functions for human health. Probiotics and prebiotics are known to have a role in prevention or treatment of some diseases. A shift in the balance of microbiota composition such that it may become harmful to health is called "dysbiosis" and dysbiosis of the gut microbiota has been associated with numerous intestinal disorders, ranging from severe constipation, obesity and diabetes to inflammatory bowel diseases and also mental disorders such as autism.

In recent years some globalised multi-national companies often owning several probiotic and yogurt “brands” have taken to naming one probiotic strain in their product and then advertising the benefits of this one strain. Progurt, on the other hand, was developed as a superior probiotic with a broad-spectrum of multiple strains of probiotic lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria from both the upper and lower human gastro-intestinal tract; strains bio-identical to those found in a healthy human gut.  More...

Probiotics, Nutrition and Auto Immune Disease.

Progurt Team - Monday, March 04, 2013

Progurt is a powerful probiotic with 1 trillion plus CFU count. Probiotics are known to benefit digestion and nutrition but more studies are showing the link between beneficial bacteria in your gut and your immune system. As 80% of your immune system is located in your gut, consuming a powerful probiotic can improve your body’s balance of good versus bad bacteria in your gut.

When working properly your immune system is a wonderful defence system. When not, it attacks your bodies own healthy tissues resulting in an autoimmune disease. T-cells are a white blood cell essential for human immunity. The devastating effects of a lower than normal of just one type of T-cell are all too evident in HIV/AIDS. There are several different kinds of T-cell; broadly speaking they can be divided into two different types, killer-T cells and helper T-cells. Killer T-cells hunt down and destroy cells that are infected with germs or that have become cancerous. Helper T-cells orchestrate an immune response and play important roles in all arms of immunity.

Autoimmunity is the No. 2 cause of chronic illness, according to the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA). There are more than 80 different types of autoimmune disorders which include: Type 1 diabetes, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Graves' disease, Inflammatory bowel disease, Psoriasis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Celiac disease and Addison’s disease.  More...
