Probiotic Therapy for Turtles and Bacteriophage Based Probiotics.

Progurt Team - Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Progurt was developed as a powerful probiotic to replenish the human gut with bacterial strains, of human origin, often missing strains, destroyed by antibiotics as well as a modern Western diet and lifestyle. There are trillions of bacteria in your gut, and they collectively contain at least 100 times as many genes as you do. The bacterial DNA in your gut disproportionately outnumbers your own DNA and regulates your digestion and immune functions as well as protecting against serious infections.

Obesity, autoimmune diseases, autism and other brain disorders have all been linked to toxic bacteria in the gut.

Progurt’s strains and “CFU strength” help eliminate toxic gut- bacteria by replenishing the gut with good bacteria as well as strengthening the mucous lining of the gut to stop further toxic bacteria from entering. In Queensland, Australia, scientists are turning to bacteriophage therapy to restore the good gut bacteria of turtles. "With anti-microbial resistance being such a major global problem, Western countries are looking at trying to find alternatives to antibiotics or at least something that can reduce the usage of antibiotics," Dr Elliot, a specialist in phage therapy, said.
