The MEND
Method.

A staged protocol for rebuilding the gut terrain — backed by 30 years of clinical research. Four phases. One sequence. The order is the protocol.

Mineralise Establish Nourish Defend
Why the order matters

Different gut concerns. Same upstream sequence.

You can't reseed a gut that hasn't been primed. You can't fortify what hasn't been seeded. And nothing holds without a maintenance rhythm. The MEND Method is the order Progurt's clinical work converged on over thirty years — and the order each protocol bundle follows.

The four phases below walk through what each one does, what lives in it, and where it sits in the protocol. The order is the protocol.

Mineralise

Phase 1 of 4 Days 1–3 · Prepare

Prepare the gut terrain so what comes next can actually take hold.

Before any reseeding makes sense, the gut needs to be receptive. Minerals and fluids set the environment for everything else — pH, motility, the mucus layer that beneficial bacteria adhere to. Skip this step and the next one has nothing to land on.

Mineralise is short by design. Three days of pH buffering and chloride loading. The terrain is primed, then the protocol moves on.

Establish

Phase 2 of 4 Days 4–14 · Reseed

Reseed the beneficial bacteria the gut needs but doesn't have.

Once the terrain is primed, Establish brings in the populations the gut is missing. Progurt uses Human Probiotic Isolates™ — strains originally isolated from healthy human gut microbiomes, not foreign or soil-derived strains.

Establish runs longer than Mineralise. Two weeks gives the strains time to colonise the terrain you just prepared. By the end of Establish, the ecosystem is in place — but it isn't yet fed.

Nourish

Phase 3 of 4 Weeks 3–4 · Feed

Feed and fortify the ecosystem so it can hold.

A populated gut is not yet a resilient one. Nourish feeds the established strains with prebiotic fibre, fortifies the gut barrier, and supports the digestive flow that keeps the ecosystem moving.

This is the phase most people skip — and the phase most responsible for whether the gains from Establish are kept past week six.

Defend

Phase 4 of 4 Weeks 4–12+ · Maintain

Maintain what you built. Long-term.

Defend is the maintenance phase — and the phase most customers stay in once they reach it. A monthly rhythm of probiotic refills, the Nourish stack, and the Incubator for at-home yogurt culture.

Defend isn't an end-point. It's the running protocol of someone whose gut works.

Most customers begin at Mineralise or Establish. A few jump in at Nourish, post-reset. None of the entry points are wrong — they're just different starting points in the same sequence.
